Rusev is campaigning for a WrestleMania match

What’s the story?

Earlier this week, Rusev took to social media to campaign for a match at WrestleMania and after The Rock responded with an interesting idea, it seems like celebrities are now queuing up to face The Bulgarian Brute!

In case you didn't know...

Rusev may have become one of the biggest fan favourites in WWE with his "Rusev Day" gimmick, but the former United States Champion has so far been left wanting when it comes to a match at WrestleMania. He hatched a cunning plan earlier this week by issuing an open challenge asking celebrities to step up on Twitter.

As of yesterday, there were some interesting responses, but no challengers. Stephen Amell stated that he was too scared of Rusev to fight, Sal Vulcano of Jokers simply replied asking "What's up?" And finally, The Rock replied - but only to suggest Rusev demolish his Jumani and Central Intelligence co-star Kevin Hart.

The heart of the matter

Well, some time has passed now and the celebrities are queuing up for their WrestleMania moment!

The most notable one even had some trash-talking with The Bulgarian Brute, and this man is no stranger to the squared circle - Macaulay Culkin!

Rusev, however, stated that he couldn't...

But the Home Alone star hit back.

The other actor who hit out is no stranger to Rusev's wife, Lana, as he has starred alongside her in Pitch Perfect!

Rusev also hit back at Astin.

What’s next?

I guess we'll see if anything comes of this, or if anyone else decides to accept the challenge.

We all know WWE loves having celebrity appearances, particularly at WrestleMania, so this idea may not be completely farfetched.

Author’s take

With the year the Bulgarian Brute has had, it's surprising he doesn't have a WrestleMania match - and this idea is pretty genius. I actually think Rusev has to be one of the favourites to win the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal if it's confirmed for this year - but a celebrity match always grabs the headlines, so you really never know!
