What's the story?

In a recent appearance on WHAS-11, former Smackdown Live Women's Champion Charlotte Flair opened up about her relationship with her father, WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair - who apparently still communicates with her daughter on a daily basis in order to give her constant tips and advice.

In case you didn't know…

At WrestleMania 34 in New Orleans, 'The Queen' Charlotte Flair, successfully defended her SmackDown Live Women’s Championship against 'The Empress of Tomorrow' Asuka, in what was her WrestleMania debut.

Following Flair's win over Asuka at 'Mania 34, 'The Queen' also became the first ever Superstar in the WWE to successfully defeat the Japanese sensation, who eventually tapped out to the Figure 8 and lost a match in the WWE for the very first time in 914 days.

The heart of the matter

During the interview, Charlotte stated that ahead of her showdown with Asuka at WrestleMania 34, dad Ric seemingly provided her with a bunch of tips and communicated with her on a regular basis, as it got closer to her against 'The Empress of Tomorrow' at the 'Grandest Stage of Them All'. "I call my Dad every single morning, whether I'm nervous about a promo or match, especially on WrestleMania 34 - at the grandest stage - against Asuka."

In addition, Charlotte also noted that the biggest enlightenment her dad has given her so far is to know who she is whenever she walks through the curtain.

"I was probably texting him everyday, all day for two weeks, 'Dad, what if we don't steal the show? What if we don't exceed expectations?' and he just calms me down because he's been in that position. [The biggest advice he's given] is to know who you are when you walk through the curtain."

What's next?

Since losing her Smackdown Live Women's Title to Carmella, Charlotte Flair is now slated to get her rematch later next month at the Backlash pay-per-view, when she finally goes toe-to-toe with 'The Princess of Staten Island' once again.

The Backlash PPV will take place on May 6th 2018 at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey and thus far five matches have been confirmed for the event. Below is the updated match card for Backlash:

The Miz vs Seth Rollins - WWE Intercontinental Championship

Samoa Joe vs Roman Reigns

Big Cass vs Daniel Bryan

Nia Jax vs Alexa Bliss - Raw Women's Championship

Carmella vs Charlotte Flair - Smackdown Live Women's Championship

Author's take

Being a two-time WWE Hall of Famer and a legend of the business, Ric Flair certainly has a lot of experience on how to deal with pressure in the Pro Wrestling industry and it is always nice to see him provide the adequate amount of advice for his daughter Charlotte.
