Ric Flair is well on the path to recovery

What's the story?

Charlotte Flair was interviewed by Renee Young in a backstage interview, after an absence of two weeks on SmackDown Live. The leave of absence was to attend to her father, Ric Flair, who has been plagued with health complications, in the recent past.

Charlotte provided an update about Ric Flair, saying that he was a 'fighter' with 'nine' lives. She emphasised that things were looking positive although she did admit that he has a long road ahead of him.

In case you didn't know...

Ric Flair, considered by many to be the greatest sports entertainer to ever lace up a pair of boots, was hospitalised following major health complications that required emergency surgery.

He was put into a medically induced coma, and a part of his bowel was surgically removed too. His fiancee, Wendy posted an update not long ago on Facebook, saying that Flair was feeling much better, as did The Hulkster, only a few hours prior.

The heart of the matter

Charlotte Flair gave us an update about her father, during the course of the interview:

It's probably the hardest two weeks I've had...but man, my dad's a fighter. I just wanna thank everyone...(chuckles) he's got nine lives. I just wanna thank everyone for the messages, the prayers, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, text messages. It means a lot to me. I know it means a lot to my family. Most importantly, I know my dad would really appreciate it.

Charlotte Flair also seemed to be glad just to be back in the thick of things:

Just to be with my friends. Travelling with Becky this weekend and seeing Breeze and AJ and The New Day... the whole SmackDown roster. I don't know...when you're used to doing something every single day and it's taken away for two weeks, especially since my bond with my dad is this... I just remember sitting there thinking, how am I going to talk to my dad about work?

What's next?

Like Charlotte says in the video, Flair is out of immediate danger, but he is not going to be living it up, anytime soon. Stay tuned for further updates from our end!

Author's take

Ric Flair means a lot to me, as someone who's been a fan of his, since the time I can remember. I am really happy to hear that he's going to be fine. Let's hope that Ric can mount a complete recovery, and get back to doing things as only our beloved 'Naytch' can.
