WWE News: Chris Jericho discusses the changes regarding the Undertaker match at Greatest Royal Rumble

Chris Jericho was Rusev's replacement to face Undertaker Friday, but the plans changed again

What's the story?

Wrestling Inc. is reporting on a recent interview that nine-time WWE Intercontinental Champion Chris Jericho had with Kid Cadet to promote Friday's Greatest Royal Rumble. During the interview, they discussed Jericho's thoughts on the constant changing of the card for the Casket Match with The Undertaker.

In case you didn't know...

The Greatest Royal Rumble is a special event that will take place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The highlight of the 10-match event will be a 50-man Royal Rumble match. No word, at the time of this writing, if the winner will be granted a future championship opportunity.

The heart of the matter

It was originally announced that Rusev was going to face The Undertaker in a Casket Match at this Friday's Greatest Royal Rumble, but plans suddenly changed to Chris Jericho replacing Rusev in the match. Many believe the following tweet from Rusev after the match was announced was the reason for the change:

Though no one knows for sure why the match was changed, then changed again, Lana is playing it off as a storyline on social media. She originally wasn't going to let her husband Rusev compete in the match but has since changed her mind.

Being a 28-year veteran in the professional wrestling industry, Jericho knows that plans can change at the drop of a dime, and then change again. Take a look at what he had to say in his quote below:

"Things changed [regarding the Casket Match against The Undertaker]. I was never in that match in the first place. They asked if I wanted to be in that match, and then they changed their mind and I said sure. In the world of WWE, things change all of the time. You have to go with the flow, that is what gives you longevity and makes you a better performer. There are times when things are planned for months and then they change, and there's a lot of times things get changed in three seconds. You have to be ready to go at all times."

What's next?

The Greatest Royal Rumble is just a few days away when it airs live from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on the WWE Network this Friday, April 27th at 12 PM ET.

In addition to the 50-man Royal Rumble match, John Cena will take on Triple H, AJ Styles takes on Shinsuke Nakamura for the WWE Championship, and Brock Lesnar will defend his WWE Universal Championship inside a steel cage against Roman Reigns.

Author's take

I'm sure it wasn't the first match involving Jericho to change suddenly during his career, and it probably won't be the last. His answer is the right way to look at things as in the ever-changing world of professional wrestling, you have to truly be ready for anything at any time.

As for the event itself, I'm really excited to see an event halfway across the world take place live on the WWE Network. It opens the door for even more events like this to occur for people around the world to see.
