WWE News: Chris Jericho makes huge announcement about future of his podcast

What’s the story?

Many will know Chris Jericho as one of the hardest working men in WWE and sports entertainment. A man constantly reinventing himself as a wrestler, frontman of a hugely successful rock band, Fozzy, and host of the Talk Is Jericho on Podcast One. Although the latter, not for long.

Don't worry, though, Talk Is Jericho isn't going anywhere! Well, that's not entirely true. It isn't changing content but it is moving network to Westwood One.

In case you didn’t know…

No matter how busy he is, Y2J records and distributes his podcast from all over the world. Whether on the road as a wrestler in America, at Download Festival in England, or in a hotel room in Japan before attacking Kenny Omega, Jericho makes sure his podcast is available for our listening twice weekly - and involving a huge string of guests from professional wrestlers, to comedians, to rock legends.

Past guests have included Paul Stanley from KISS, former best friend Kevin Owens, and even the Fonz - Henry Winkler! In fact, Jericho has even started releasing a new format of the show called Classic Album Clash where he and guests will debate two classic albums from a band in head-to-head combat. He also has rock legend Duff McKagan telling an incredibly bad joke every week on his Friday episode.

It's no secret that the Ayatollah of Rock 'n' Rolla is immensely proud of his broadcasting work, so it came as a huge surprise as Jericho opened his latest episode with "This is the last TIJ of 2017 and it's also the last Talk is Jericho..."

The heart of the matter

Thankfully, Y2J isn't going too far. And it isn't just his podcast making the move - the full Jericho Network is. The Network also features a show from former WWE, WCW and ECW star, Raven.

Here is what the self-proclaimed Greatest of all Time had to say about the move:

"This is the last TIJ of 2017 and it's also the last Talk is Jericho here on Podcast One. I've got a big announcement to share with you - Talk is Jericho has a new podcast home for 2018. My show is moving to Westwood One, the huge, the famous Westwood One.

"When I decided to pick up and move, Westwood One was the platform that stood out to me the most because when I was a kid it meant a lot to me to always hear those Westwood One specials and here we are moving to Westwood One. Plus, I went to Westwood High School!

"So it's all coming together. But, listen, nothing is really changing. We're still doing two episodes per week, every Wednesday and Friday just like we've always been doing."

What’s next?

Jericho stated the reasoning for the move was, quite simply, that he wants to make his podcast the biggest in the world and feels this is the right step towards making that happen.

The show is already available on iTunes but will now be available on Google Play, Stitcher, and other popular podcast platforms.

Author’s take

It's great to see anything that Jericho is doing be successful. He's one man who you can never accuse of resting on his laurels and picking up a paycheck.

Whether it's reinventing himself last year for his run as Kevin Owens' best friend, making the move to NJPW to challenge Kenny Omega or even running his own rock and wrestling cruise, Jericho is always looking to push the boundaries.

Considering how much content he gives his fans every week via the podcast, it's great to see him be so passionate about it and want to make it as big of a name as Jericho is himself. We look forward to listening on Westwood One!
