What's the story?

Chris Jericho recently faced Kenny Omega at NJPW's Wrestle Kingdom 12 in what was considered to be an absolutely huge match for not only Jericho and Omega but also for New Japan Pro Wrestling. It seems that Jericho managed to push NJPW into the path of a number of wrestling fans and recently revealed how much revenue he created for the company as part of that appearance.

In case you didn't know...

Chris Jericho is a former Undisputed WWE Champion but he hasn't been seen in WWE for a number of months because he has been touring with his band Fozzy and feuding with a superstar that many fans regard as the greatest wrestler in the world right now, Kenny Omega.

The duo faced off at Wrestle Kingdom 12 a few weeks ago in what was an outstanding match that not only proved that Jericho is at an incredible level for his age and has been able to step up his game so much over the past few years, but also that Omega could definitely become a huge star in WWE.

Wrestle Kingdom 12 allowed Jericho to return to the NJPW ring for the first time in more than two decades and saw more than 43,000 fans pack into the Tokyo Dome to watch him fight Omega in a No Disqualification match.

The heart of the matter

Chris Jericho recently responded to a fan on Twitter who stated that he would like to know how many fans tuned in to Wrestle Kingdom or subscribed to New Japan World because of Jericho's involvement in the show.

The former United States Champion revealed that it was more than $1.5 million of revenue, which makes him one of the best imports that the company have ever had.

What's next?

This past week on Raw it was announced that Chris Jericho would be part of the upcoming 25th Anniversary of Raw celebrations even though it was reported that Jericho hadn't agreed on a deal with WWE at that point. The deal has been made now and it is thought that Jericho will be in attendance.

Author's take

Chris Jericho is one of the best professional wrestlers in the world right now and he proved that when he stood toe-to-toe with Kenny Omega, knowing that the NJPW star had a huge advantage over him in front of the Japanese crowd. The money that the company made from this could lead to more cross-promotional matches since there is currently talk of Omega wanting to wrestle The New Day in the near future.
