Chris Jericho had a storyline with AJ Styles for over 2 months

What's the story?

Chris Jericho recently participated in an interview with Dave LaGreca and Bully Ray on the Busted Open radio show.  On the show, Jericho talked about his recently concluded run with the WWE, and who he thinks is the best superstar in the company right now.

In case you didn't know

On the 2nd of May, Y2J ended his latest run with the WWE, so that he could tour full-time with his band, Fozzy.

The heart of the matter

According to Jericho, The Phenomenal AJ Styles is the best superstar in the company right now.

“I knew I could work with him for a couple of months.  I could help him learn the small little things that he didn’t know about the WWE that he picked up in two weeks and also help him get over fast.”

After Styles made his WWE debut in January at the Royal Rumble, he initially had three friendly singles match against Jericho in which he ended up winning twice. After that, Styles and Jericho formed a tag team called Y2AJ.

However, the tag team had an extremely short run (lasting only a week) after Jericho attacked Styles following their loss to The New Day. Jericho feuded with Styles with the story being that the WWE Universe had turned on him in favour of Styles.

The feud culminated at WrestleMania 32, where Jericho defeated Styles.

What's next?

On the 2nd of May, Jericho lost the US Title to Kevin Owens in the main event of SmackDown LIVE. Post-match, Owens assaulted Jericho, thus writing him off TV for the time being. Considering the way Jericho's story with Kevin Owens was left open-ended, the Ayatollah of Rock 'n' Rolla may be back on TV after completing the tour with Fozzy.

Author's Take

Known for putting stars over along with himself, Jericho definitely did help AJ learn how to work matches the WWE way, thus helping him be the #1 star that he is right now,
