In case you didn't know...

Fans acknowledge that Jericho's recent run in WWE was one of his best. During this run, Chris Jericho would team up with Kevin Owens and help his friend to take on Roman Reigns on a number of occasions. The two would use their numerical superiority to defeat Reigns, and during the course of this feud, Jericho even became the United States Champion.

Roman Reigns has been pushed by WWE as the face of the company for years now. The WWE star has not been able to get over with fans despite being pushed and the fan's dislike of the star is almost a throwback to their attitude towards John Cena.

The heart of the matter

During the interview, Chris Jericho talked about a plan he had come up with, for his program with the 'Big Dog'. He said that he had wanted to throw a fireball at Roman Reigns.

"I wanted to throw a fireball in Roman's eyes and blind him, like an old-school Memphis idea."

This sort of move was a classic used in Memphis Wrestling promotions, and at a point, Kane had also thrown a fireball, missing Triple H and hitting Chyna.

Jericho went on to say that the program he had with Roman changed, as the two were supposed to engage in a long rivalry.

"If we had a long program, I probably could have got it done."

Jericho also talked about the fans booing Roman, and called him a 'modern day John Cena', who the fans thought it was 'cool' to boo.

He said that Reigns would get over if WWE turned him heel, but then he would be cheered as a heel by the same fans are booing him now. He went on to say that if the Big Dog worked with some good heels that wanted to be heels, and WWE stayed their course, then it would be a matter of time before he got cheered.

What's next?

Chris Jericho is set to be a part of the 50-Man Royal Rumble at the Greatest Royal Rumble event that is to take place in Saudi Arabia on the 27th of April.

Author's take

Jericho is one of the best veterans in the business, and he knows about heel-work. As a heel, his feuds with Shawn Michaels back in the early 2000's and the later feud between the two in 2008 were both very successful as he became a hated heel.

The fireball idea may sound outlandish to modern fans, but it was extremely usual in the earlier days of pro-wrestling.
