What's the story?

One of the big signings for new promotion AEW is Chris Jericho, who committed to the new promotion, and reportedly had discussions with WWE, but chose AEW.

Jericho has now revealed if WWE Chairman Vince McMahon knew about him signing with AEW.

In case you didn't know...

Jericho, who wrestled only once in WWE in 2018, at the Greatest Royal Rumble, is set to embark on a new journey with AEW. Reports have revealed that Jericho will still wrestle at NJPW, but will be the star attraction on AEW.

He had previously spoken about how he would not wrestle on US soil out of respect for Vince McMahon and WWE, but that changed when he made an appearance at All In, last year.

The heart of the matter

Jericho made an appearance on Busted Open Radio, where he spoke about a number of things about AEW, with Bully Ray Dudley and David LaGreca.

WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray said that Vince McMahon would not be a happy man about Jericho choosing AEW over WWE.

Jericho spoke about him speaking to Vince McMahon but did not delve into the details of teh conversation.

"A lot of that stuff is private but I did have a very amicable conversation with him (Vince McMahon) and he knew it, he knew what I was doing. It was not a surprise. I didn't just show up in Jacksonville and that was it. The bottom line is that the Khan family isn't messing around. They want to make a go of this, and they have a lot of money, and they have a lot of capital, they have a lot of business acumen in sports and entertainment," said Jericho (H/T WrestlingInc for the transcription)
