What’s the story?

In a recent exclusive interview with Wrestlezone Radio, former WWE superstar Ted Dibiase Jr. opened up about his run in the WWE alongside Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes as part of The Legacy faction, on his decision to become the Million Dollar Champion, and on if he has any sort of potential future in the Pro Wrestling business.

In case you didn’t know…

The Legacy was one of the most vicious heel factions in WWE history. It consisted of two of WWE’s most up and coming and promising stars at the time, Cody Rhodes and Ted Dibiase Jr. The group was initially steered and led by 'The Viper' Randy Orton and had two memorable feuds with The McMahon Family and D-Generation X.

During the stable’s existence, Randy Orton also managed to capture the WWE Championship, whereas Rhodes and Dibiase held the WWE World Tag Team Championship. The three men eventually split from each other in 2010 and by 2013, Dibiase had left the WWE in order to spend more time with his family.

The heart of the matter

While speaking with Wrestlezone Radio, Ted Dibiase Jr. spoke about a host of topics and here are a few highlights from the interview:

On his run with The Legacy, alongside Orton and Rhodes:

Dibiase said that his time with The Legacy was the most exciting period in his wrestling career and claimed that he became really close friends with both Orton and Rhodes during that span. Dibiase also stated that his bond with Cody Rhodes was really strong and the two men are like brothers to each other.

“I love Cody, he became like a brother to me and I am so excited for his success. He embodies the discipline and commitment it takes to be on top.”

- Dibiase stated.

Dibiase also believes that Cody Rhodes will return to the WWE one day and become World Champion, however, currently 'The American Nightmare' deserves everything that he has been getting, said Dibiase. Further, Dibiase also praised Randy Orton stating that 'The Viper' has been a legend since day one and is still one of the greats in the current business.

On his decision to crown himself Million Dollar Champion:

According to Dibiase, it was originally Michael Hayes’ idea to put the Million Dollar belt around Dibiase.

“That came up the day of WrestleMania 26 and Michael Hayes was the one who approached me with that idea and I was like, “No, no, no… please keep that belt away from me.” There was really no direction. It really hadn’t been talked about, “what is going to happen after the implosion of Legacy?” I would’ve liked to have seen us go a little bit further and not broken up so quickly.”

- Dibiase added.

Dibiase also stated that he never really intended to hold the Million Dollar Championship, because it wasn’t really an extension of who Dibiase actually is.

On if he is getting the itch to have another run as a pro wrestler:

Dibiase claimed that his current dream is to use the platform that God has given him to glorify himself in order to help other people. However, the 35-year-old did not refuse the possibility of making a return to Pro Wrestling as he additionally said:

“I’ve always got the spandex and the boots on! They just stay on! I live in them! For me, I told Mark Henry the other day, “I can’t say never.”

What’s next?

Ted Dibiase is currently enjoying his life away from the squared circle, along with his family. However, as the man himself claimed there is still a slight possibility for the former WWE Tag Team Champion to make a potential return to the squared circle.

Author’s Take

I believe, The Legacy faction was one of the up and coming and best villainous stables of all time, which had the potential of becoming really great.
