In one of his recent tweets, WWE commentator Corey Graves has claimed that he found out about The Hardy Boyz’ return at the same time as the WWE Universe. You can read Graves’ tweet below:
In case you didn’t know…
The Hardy Boyz made their first appearance on Raw in years as they defended their newly-earned Raw Tag Team Championship against the team of Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson on the show’s post-WrestleMania episode.
Although Gallows and Anderson did have their moments during the match, it was an all too familiar ending with a ‘Twist of Fate’ from Matt Hardy followed by a ‘Swanton Bomb’ from the top rope by Jeff brought an end to their challenge.
The heart of the matter
During a Q&A session on Twitter, Corey Graves was asked by one of the fans about his reaction when he learnt about The Hardy Boyz returning to the WWE at WrestleMania 33. Responding to the fan, the Raw commentator explained, “You heard it live. I found out when all of you did.”
The Raw Tag Team Championship match at WM 33 was supposed to be a triple-threat match between the champions The Club and the teams of Cesaro & Sheamus and Enzo & Big Cass. However, the show’s hosts, The New Day, came out and declared that it would be a Fatal Four-Way match.
Just after asking the crowd who it was, in their trademark fashion, the WWE entrance music of the Hardy Boyz hit and the crowd at the Camping World Stadium in Orlando erupted. The commentators sounded shell-shocked by this surprise return too and therefore, Graves’ claim about not knowing anything may actually be true.
What next?
With The Hardy Boyz recently having claimed the Raw Tag Team titles, it doesn’t look likely that they will be affected by the Superstar Shakeup which takes place on this week’s Raw.
