WWE News: Daniel Bryan confirms rumors about Royal Rumble venue
What's the story?
Since the 2019 Royal Rumble will take place at Chase Field in Arizona this year, some people have speculated just how having the event in a baseball field might change things up for WWE.
Ringsidenews.com reports that Daniel Bryan recently spoke with ABC 15 Arizona to help promote the event, and he revealed that due to the event taking place in a baseball stadium, the superstars might have a unique way of making their way to the ring.
In case you missed it...
WWE has had the Royal Rumble in the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia in 2018, the Alamodome in Texas in 2017 and in the Amway Center in Orlando in 2016. All venues are normal, indoor sites.
Entrances can either help make a PPV more unique and interesting or confusing like they were in 2017 for the Royal Rumble.
The entrance aisle in the Alamodome was so long that if forced several participants like Braun Strowman, the Big Show and Bray Wyatt to be brought to the ring in golf carts.
Since the Royal Rumble is one of the 'Big Four' PPVs, WWE wants to make it stand out and the biggest and best possible show it can be.
The heart of the matter
Ringsidenews.com mentions that it had a report in November about the venue for the Royal Rumble that led them to believe that superstars would be having a unique way of entering for their matches.
When Daniel Bryan spoke with ABC 15 of Arizona recently about the upcoming event, he basically confirmed that superstars will likely be entering the arena for their matches through one of the dugouts at Chase Field.
“It’s an incredible stadium, and we were actually just talking about what the metamorphosis would look like. Right now the thought is that we come out of the dugout. We’ve never had a Royal Rumble at a baseball stadium before. I’m super psyched, I’ve never come out of a dugout to go to a wrestling show before, so I think it should be exciting.”
Since the WWE hasn't had such an important event like the Royal Rumble in such a different setting than before, it clearly required the WWE to come up with ways to use the Chase Field venue to the best of its ability.
Wrestlers often go all out for entrances at Wrestlemania, including Triple H yearly at the event, as well as the New Day.
At the Royal Rumble, the venue itself will help provide a different viewing experience for both fans and superstars alike.
Bryan confirming the previous rumors makes the event even more intriguing. Since there are so many good match-ups slated for the event (AJ Styles/Bryan, Lesnar/Strowman, Rousey/Banks, Lynch/Asuka), the venue itself will also be a reason to tune in.
The Royal Rumble is often one of the most anticipated events in the WWE calendar of PPVs, so adding a unique entrance to the already loved match/PPV should only add to the event's mystique.
Entering through a dugout should allow several superstars to come up with interesting ways to make their entrances.
