What's the story?

SmackDown Live General Manager Daniel Bryan is an optimistic man. Even though a string of concussion based injuries have forced him to retire much before his time, he is hopeful that he will make a return to the squared circle.

He revealed to Sports Illustrated that when he does return, Daniel Bryan would like to face AJ Styles at WrestleMania, as he's already faced John Cena before this. We're certain that the WWE Universe would definitely like to see that match take place.

In case you didn't know...

Daniel Bryan's story is one of sheer triumph and tragedy. One of the most gifted athletes to step into a WWE ring, he was forced to retire prematurely, owing to a succession of concussions.

Today, he plays an on-screen authority figure and receives a thunderous ovation everytime that he's on screen. He is hopeful of a return, recently saying that there's an 85% chance that he will wrestle again. He added that there's a 20% chance that he may even wrestle for WWE.

The heart of the matter

This is what Bryan revealed about a potential dream match, sometime in the future.

One of my favorite guys to watch at WWE is AJ Styles. So, on the WWE stage, I would like to wrestle AJ Styles, only because I wrestled John Cena before.

Another thing that Bryan revealed during the interview is the fact that he never got to wrestle his teacher, Shawn Michaels. The inability to do so remains his biggest disappointment.

Who could say no to the thought of two of the best technicians of our time, clashing in the middle of the squared circle?

What's next?

We have to wait till Daniel Bryan's contract expires to figure out what's next for the man. As of this moment, he's been teasing a change of character on SmackDown Live. We've been seeing glimpses of a man who's at odds with Commissioner, Shane McMahon.

Author's take

AJ Styles and Daniel Bryan have clashed on the independents. If this match were to take place, it would be on the biggest stage in the world- WWE. The circumstances are different, but the match would be almost just as thrilling!
