WWE News: David Otunga's attorney issues statement regarding order of protection from Jennifer Hudson

He's not goin
It looks like this is far from over

What's the story?

David Otunga and Jennifer Hudson have ended their ten-year engagement but, unfortunately, things aren't that simple for the two of them. It might get rather messy as Hudson has filed for an order of protection from her former fiance and WWE Superstar, David Otunga. But according to David Otunga's attorney, this is just a tactic as part of an even messier child custody situation.

In case you didn't know...

David Otunga and Jennifer Hudson have been engaged longer than some people stay married. They had a son, David Daniel Otunga Jr, in 2009 and appeared to be happy together. However, sometimes things aren't always as they seem when you're dealing with the tricky puzzle of making a relationship work when you're also trying to excel in your career.

The heart of the matter

In response to the backlash stemming from this recent filing for a protective order on Hudson's part, Otunga's attorney — Tracy Rizzo — told TMZ that this entire situation is tangled around custody of their son, David Daniel Otunga Jr.

Due to Jennifer Hudson's rigorous schedule of world travel to maintain her high-profile career in the entertainment business, Tracy Rizzo stated Otunga would be granted residential care for the couple's son. Therefore, the order of protection is a "meritless Petition for Order of Protection in an effort to gain an unfair advantage in the custody dispute."

Rizzo went on to further dismiss this order of protection's validity by saying:

"As a result of Mr. Otunga's career in WWE, Ms. Hudson felt that she could give an award-winning performance in court to portray herself as the victim. Mr. Otunga has never abused or harassed Ms. Hudson or their son."

What's next?

Hopefully, things will get cleared up before they get even messier. After all, a child's welfare is at stake here, and although both Otunga and Hudson might be fine guardians for their child, some kind of resolution needs to be reached.

Author's take

I hate hearing this kind of story. But not all couples are going to last forever. If you add in the extra stress of being apart from each other that David Otunga and Jennifer Hudson were sure to have been experiencing it makes things even more difficult to keep things together.
