Dolph Ziggler on his feud with The Miz

The two have had what many consider the best feud going on right now in WWE

If you told someone just five months ago that Dolph Ziggler and The Miz would have arguably the feud of the year, they would have laughed it off. Pre-brand split, The Miz and Ziggler in an Intercontinental title feud would’ve just been seen as any standard feud and not raised eyebrows.

However, both stars have heated up incredibly since the brand split. After failing to capture the WWE World Championship from Dean Ambrose at Summerslam, Ziggler moved on to face the red-hot Miz who had just come off of the Talking Smack promo he cut with General Manager Daniel Bryan.

Current Intercontinental Champion Dolph Ziggler spoke to Sports Illustrated and commented on his feud with The Miz:

I am very proud of it, purely based on having some freedom in the ring and on the microphone. We need to keep adding these pieces of real life into our characters.”

He proceeded to praise his rival:

He’s always very solid and puts the time into work, which allowed him to revolutionise his career with his wife, Maryse, coming back. At the end of the day, the core is [that] I appreciate the part where he works as hard as anyone else, or harder, at being that douche.”

He went on to state that he and The Miz are trying to make the feud as real as possible and that the emotion that came with their No Mercy match, with their careers on the line was serious. He said that when he found out that his career was on the line, it hit him and he thought to himself “Woah, this is huge for me.”

He said that while his aim is currently to restore meaning to the Intercontinental Championship, his ultimate goal is still to win the WWE World Championship.

There is no doubt that the intense feud between The Showoff and The Hollywood A-Lister had helped to elevate the prestige of the Intercontinental Championship, as many felt it had never been as important as it had for years.

It was, many believed, not only the match of the night at No Mercy but the match many believed truly deserved to close the show given that the WWE World Championship match opened the show.

Now, The Spirit Squad have joined The Miz as his goons and Ziggler has Smackdown Tag Team Champions Heath Slater and Rhyno by his side. Are you looking to see where the feud continues to play out? Do you believe The Miz is ready once more for the main event picture?
