WWE News: Drew McIntyre re-signs with WWE

The Chosen One is Back!

Former Impact Wrestling Superstar Drew McIntyre (aka Drew Galloway) confirmed his return to the WWE in an interview with ESPN.

McIntyre was spotted at NXT Takeover: Orlando and this led to some fans believing that he could re-sign. McIntyre confirmed the rumours today (April 2nd) and made his intentions for the NXT Championship known.

"Well the answer's pretty simple. I've won championships all across the world. I've helped build brands. So what's the next logical thing for me to do? It's to come here and win the NXT title. If that's not clear enough for everybody, Drew McIntyre has signed with NXT.”

McIntyre was with Impact Wrestling at the beginning of the year but decided not to re-sign, claiming that Impact and Anthem Sports management didn’t get back to him with a new contract in a timely manner. McIntyre said the following about leaving Impact Wrestling in an interview with The Scottish Sun.

“They came to me last week with an offer and it was very very good one, one of the best in the company and a position as top guy but the reality is that because they waited until the last second I had to turn it down. Everything was so last minute. I had to to think about back-up plans and family because it went to the wire.”

McIntyre is known primarily for his initial WWE run which lasted from 2006 to 2014. During that time, he would go on to win the Intercontinental Championship, the Tag Team Championships with Cody Rhodes and formed the stable 3-Man Band with Heath Slater and Jinder Mahal.

After leaving the WWE, Galloway would work the independent wrestling circuit working in EVOLVE and Insane Championship Wrestling until he came to TNA Impact Wrestling in 2015. During his time in Impact Wrestling, McIntyre would go on to win the Impact Grand Championship and the TNA World Heavyweight Championship.

With the news of his return breaking, expect to see The Chosen One face off against The Glorious One at NXT Takeover: Brooklyn III or sometime in the near future.
