WWE News: Edge calls out "fan" who says wrestlers shouldn't be proud of championships

Edge responded to an odd analogy from a fan

What's the story?

In this day and age of wrestlers being a click away, it seems like we constantly see people taking shots at current wrestlers for their "heel" characteristics - but Edge's wordings on a recent podcast have seen him get some backlash from fans and it all spiraled out of control before Edge responded brilliantly.

In case you didn't know...

Recently, Edge and Christian had Hacksaw Jim Duggan on their podcast where Edge spoke about "working" Hacksaw Jim Duggan- a comment that a fan took umbrage with the wording Edge, a WWE Hall of Famer, used to describe his work with Hacksaw.

The heart of the matter

Well, this one is an odd one. Normally when former pro wrestlers interact with fans, it's slightly less controversial.

The initial tweet saw Edge be told that a fan "cringed" at his verbiage upon advice he had received from Les Thatcher, a former pro wrestler who helps run Elite Pro Wrestling Training with Ricky Steamboat and Harley Race.

And Edge responded saying that the "fan" obviously went further than him, but joked that he'll go look at his Championships - of which there are plenty with Edge winning 11 world titles and 12 tag team titles in his run with WWE. However, another fan butted in to say that isn't something to be proud off, citing an odd analogy...

Well, the Rated-R Superstar responded to correct his analogy and put him firmly in his place.

What's next?

Well, I guess we'll see if Edge addresses any more fans on the matter, or if he speaks about it on this week's podcast!

Author's take

I think it's pretty disrespectful of these "fans" to speak out of turn against someone who they obviously watched in WWE, and who gave everything to the business- so much so that he was forced into an early retirement.

Everyone's allowed an opinion, but I'm sure not going to correct a former WWE Champion and Hall of Famer on what verbiage he uses to describe working with another legend of the business - and I think it's pretty obvious to see why it's important to be proud of winning titles, even if the outcomes are predetermined. It shows faith from the company that you can be the face of the business, like an employee of the month award amplified by about a hundred to reward a Superstar both financially and in terms of respect and kudos for their hard work and attitude.

Edge definitely dealt with it like a pro, though.
