WWE News: Edge praises The Velveteen Dream
What’s the story?
On a recent edition of E&C’s Pod Of Awesomeness, Edge asserted that he’s thoroughly impressed with Velveteen Dream.
As for Dream’s performance at NXT Takeover: WarGames, Edge found it truly phenomenal; opining that Dream will be a ‘player’ in the days to come.
In case you didn’t know…
The Velveteen Dream, whose real name is Patrick Clark Jr., has only been competing in the sport of professional wrestling for the past 3 years, however, the 22-year-old is being lauded by fans and critics alike for his excellent wrestling skills. Dream, formerly known as Patrick Clark, has been portraying a very LGBT-inspired and sexually motivated gimmick, something that initially hindered his career. He has now embraced the character and is doing a fine job
Velveteen Dream recently took on Aleister Black at NXT Takeover: WarGames; and despite ending up on the losing end, Dream received high critical acclaim from industry pundits, for his immaculate wrestling skills.
The heart of the matter
Expounding upon Velveteen Dream, Edge stated that the former has seemingly found a character and is now completely committed to it.
Furthermore, the Rated-R Superstar elucidated that Velveteen Dream’s character draws from Rick Rude as well as Prince. Below are a few excerpts from Edge’s statements on Dream:
“I hadn’t seen much of Velveteen Dream but I watched him and Aleister Black. That kid’s been working 3 years, for 3 years to be where he’s at is incredible.”
“He’s going to be a player, it was really fun to watch. It was a fun match and I thought there were a lot of cool false finishes and like I said for 3 years in or whatever, he’s going to be a good one.”
The Velveteen Dream presently competes on the WWE’s NXT brand. Given his fantabulous matchup at Takeover against Aleister Black, fans can expect the WWE to match up the duo more often in the days to come.
The Velveteen Dream may very well be one of the brightest stars in the sport today.
And to think of it, the man is only 22 years of age! The sky if the potential for this lad; and the WWE Universe needs to keep an eye on him, for this could very well be a future champion.
