What's the story?

In a recent interview, NXT Women's Champion Ember Moon commented on how she failed in her first WWE tryout. She also revealed that it was Paige who encouraged her to try out again, as a result of which, she was selected, and recently became the NXT Women's Champion.

In case you don't know...

Ember Moon became the current NXT Women's Champion when she beat three other women, in a Fatal Fourway match at Takeover: Wargames. She defeated Peyton Royce, Nikki Cross and Kairi Sane, to win the vacant NXT Women's Title which had been relinquished by the former title-holder, Asuka, following her injury.

Ember Moon came back for a second tryout with WWE after she was rejected in her first attempt for the company. She was signed to a contract and wrestled in NXT, with her most notable feud being against current main roster Women's Star, Asuka.

The heart of the matter

In her interview, Ember Moon admitted that she had not believed in herself following her rejection. When she met Paige outside WWE, and she told her to come back to the company and try out for a spot again, Ember had replied that she did not think she was what WWE was looking for in a competitor.

To this Paige had said, that Ember Moon was what WWE needed.

"I ran into Paige at Universal, she goes, 'You need to try to come back.' I go, 'No, no, no, I am not what they are looking for.' she goes, 'You are exactly what they need.'"

What's next?

Ember Moon recently retained her title in a match against Sonia Deville. She is slated to defend her title at NXT Takeover: Philadelphia on the 27th of January against Shayna Baszler.

Author's take

Ember Moon is one of the top women on the current NXT roster and is set to be one of the top stars on the main roster in the future. Paige helping her to come to WWE added an incredible talent to the company.
