What's the story?

WWE bid farewell to Emma on Sunday, October 29th just one week after she gave Asuka a run for her money at TLC. Many fans never really gave Emma a chance. It's unclear why it never really clicked but #GiveEmmaAChance didn't become a thing for no reason. Emma commented on her WWE release with a broken-hearted emoji and Paige responded in similar fashion.

In case you didn't know...

When NXT was in their infant stages, they needed to figure out who would represent their roster as champions. A tournament was arranged to determine who would be the first to hold the NXT Women's Title. That tournament was historically won by Paige but it came down to her and Emma in the climactic conclusion of the contest.

Paige held the NXT Women's Title both famously and infamously until her eventual main roster call up when she defeated a previously undefeatable AJ Lee for the WWE Diva's Championship. But Emma was actually called up a few months prior. However, their respective runs with WWE would be treated much differently.

The heart of the matter

Emma received a call today from a Stanford Connecticut wishing her the best in all future endeavours. It was actually an incredibly sad deal. In fact, some had thought Emma would be experiencing another resurgence on the Raw Women's roster thanks to the spotlight she received during her two-match feud with Asuka.

But the Emmalution is no more and the women who started the WWE Women's Revolution will not find a new niche to carve out for herself.

Emma was broken-hearted when she was informed of her WWE release and she illustrated that fact with a simple emoji. Paige reacted by thanking Emma and proclaimed Emma is the #StarterOfDivasRevolution.

All of this is a pretty sad way to end the weekend for Emma because she posted an extremely positive sounding social media message on Friday.

What's next?

Hopefully, Emma will find a new spot to call her own. If anything, she won't be so tired from the rigorous road schedule WWE demands from their Superstars. But it probably won't be too difficult for Emma to find another gig.

Author's take

I've always been a fan of Emma and I'm sorry if you don't agree with me about that. But the fact is Emma can wrestle and she's entertaining. But she never got a fair shake with the WWE fanbase for some reason. Now we'll never know if Emma had another run in her. After those matches with Asuka, it certainly looked plausible, but it just goes to show you never know what can happen in WWE.
