Enzo Amore has been officially released by WWE, following allegations of sexual assault

WWE have put out a statement on Twitter stating that they have come to terms on the release of Enzo Amore.

The New Jersey native was placed on suspension just before the most recent episode of Monday Night Raw, after he was accused of sexually assaulting a woman in Phoenix, Arizona, on October 18, 2017. Amore posted on Instagram from Phoenix on that day and from Los Angeles, California, on October 19, 2017.

This story also comes at a time when several personalities from the entertainment industry, mostly from Hollywood, have been faced with allegations of sexual misconduct.

Here is an excerpt from the victim's statement:

“It’s been long enough & I have been so so scared to share this. I was raped in mid-October by the WWE Enzo Amore (also known as Eric Arden) & Tyler Grosso & TOOPOOR let it happen as accomplices. I was in a mental hospital for 45 days after it. They are not good people."

Pro Wrestling Sheet reported that a representative from the Phoenix Police Department had confirmed the story and that the incident had been under investigation since October.

On a recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer stated that, if proven guilty of these charges, Amore would probably never be given the opportunity to return to WWE. The veteran journalist also stated that this incident allegedly took place after a concert.

On a more trivial note, Amore was supposed to defend the Cruiserweight strap against Cedric Alexander at the Royal Rumble. The title is now vacant, and a new champion will, presumably, be crowned in the days to follow.
