Raw and SmackDown Live will compete against each other in two traditional 5 on 5 elimination matches at Survivor Series. Shane McMahon decided to launch a pre-emptive strike on the latest episode of Monday Night Raw by decimating the flagship show's roster.

The heart of the matter

Sami Zayn faced Randy Orton for the right to be the first person on the SmackDown Live Men's team. Randy Orton was able to win the match, following a distraction by Kevin Owens. Orton hit Zayn with a low-blow and picked up the all-important victory.

What's next?

Randy Orton is set to take part in the Five on Five Elimination match at Survivor Series, but prior to that, next week will see Kevin Owens trying to secure his spot on the team. Zayn will possibly try to help his friend and get at least one of them on the men's team.
