WWE News: 5 more names added to Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal Match

The
This giant match just got even bigger!

What’s the story?

With this year marking the fifth Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania, the huge match has now become even bigger with five more names being added - taking the total to 19 Superstars announced so far!

In case you didn’t know…

The Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal debuted at WrestleMania XXX in New Orleans where it looked like Big Show would take home the trophy. In the end, he was dumped over the top rope by Cesaro in a callback to when Hulk Hogan powerslammed Andre the Giant in a legendary moment from WrestleMania III.

In the years since, we've seen Big Show win the trophy, Baron Corbin win on his main roster debut and Mojo Rawley defeat Jinder Mahal with the help of NFL star Rob Gronkowski.

The heart of the matter

WWE has noted today that five more names have been added to the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal.

Kane, Aiden English, Curt Hawkins, Shelton Benjamin and Chad Gable join the fray, taking the total of confirmed Superstars to 19.

The five new additions join Dash Wilder, Scott Dawson, Matt Hardy, Rhyno, Heath Slater, Goldust, Baron Corbin, Mojo Rawley, Tye Dillinger, Dolph Ziggler, Fandango, Tyler Breeze, Zack Ryder and Primo Colón.

What’s next?

Well, we normally see 30 men involved in the over-the-top-rope battle royal, so it would seem that we still have eleven names to go!

WrestleMania 34 takes place this Sunday in New Orleans. The Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal has been confirmed for the kick-off show of the event - alongside the Women's Battle Royal and the Cruiserweight Championship Match between Mustafa Ali and Cedric Alexander.

Author’s take

The Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal may not be the most exciting match on the card, but these matches are always great fun! Who knows which NXT Superstar or WWE alumni may show up in the other eleven slots?

With Superstars like Kane, Dolph Ziggler and Matt Hardy, this year's match already looks pretty great, and I'm looking forward to watching it!
