Edge and Christian on Stone Cold's podcast

What's the story?

The Edge and Christian Pod Of Awesomeness has been one of the most popular podcasts out there nowadays. Even with an influx of wrestling podcasts as of late, the E&C podcast of awesomeness has managed to soar.

On a recent edition of the show, the duo spoke with former WWE head writer Brian Gewirtz. The interview covered a lot of interesting stories from Gerwitz's time in the WWE. From topics ranging from who Brian found intimidating in the WWE to how he wanted Edge and Christian to continue with comedy even though the management was against that idea; it was a very interesting show.

In case you didn't know...

Brian Gerwitz, who was the head writer for Monday Night RAW for a long time was demoted from head writer position to a creative consultant in 2012 due to floundering RAW ratings.

It is also believed that another reason for his demotion was the increase in his time working from home which had displeased Vince McMahon.

The heart of the matter

In his interview with Edge and Christian, Brian touched on the subject of the higher powers in the WWE not wanting Edge & Christian to continue with their comedy acts whereas he was always an advocate for them.

The belief was that doing comedy would lead to them not being taken seriously as main eventers.

Brian also commented on the wrestlers he found intimidating and stayed away from. Here is an excerpt from his interview(H/T Wrestlinginc)

"Yeah, I mean, [Edge, Christian, The Rock, Chris Jericho, and Kurt Angle] was probably the starting five of my first go around. I think, like, Al Snow and Steve Blackman too. Yeah, it's a great starting line because, as a writer and everything, you're supposed to write for everybody, but, like, human nature gets in the way. I mean, I was intimidated by a lot of people and if nobody was… I always figured, like, Triple H is very intimidating, and he was a big star, and he always seemed to put his material together himself, so it's like, 'okay, great - he's all set.'"

What's next?

Brian left WWE altogether in 2015 to join the company 'Seven Bucks Entertainment' which was founded by Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and his ex-wife, so it's highly unlikely that he would be coming back to WWE anytime soon.
