What's the story?

During the latest edition of The Taz Show, ECW legend Taz revealed that former WCW announcer Mike Tenay was the man behind Goldberg's infamous undefeated streak during his WCW days.

In case you didn't know...

It was in the year 1997 when Bill Goldberg first stepped into a WCW ring during an episode of Nitro. In his debut match, Goldberg faced off and defeated Hugh Morrus which was eventually the beginning of his undefeated streak. In the next year, Goldberg also captured his first title in WCW as he defeated Raven to win the WCW United States Championship.

For almost a year, Goldberg did not suffer a single defeat in WCW and also captured the WCW World Heavyweight Championship by defeating NWO leader Hollywood Hulk Hogan.

Goldberg eventually stretched his undefeated streak to 173 wins-0 losses, however, the former WCW World Champion's streak came to an end in 1998 when he lost to Kevin Nash at the Starrcade pay-per-view.

The heart of the matter

Taz recently opened up about Goldberg's induction into the WWE Hall of Fame and claimed that the former Universal Champion is one of the legitimate athletes who transitioned into the wrestling business, thanks to his undefeated streak.

Further, Taz claimed that it was originally Mike Tenay who decided to come up with the idea of Goldberg's undefeated streak, which made the to-be WWE Hall of Famer into a household name.

What's next?

Goldberg's last WWE match took place at Wrestlemania 33, in a loss to Brock Lesnar. The former Universal Champion is finally all set to make his return to the company later this year at the Hall of Fame ceremony.

Author's Take

Goldberg's undefeated streak is considered as one of the greatest streaks in wrestling history. The WWE Universe is eagerly awaiting the in-ring return of the wrestling legend.
