WWE News: Former WWE writer, Court Bauer, on how he would book Brock Lesnar vs Goldberg
Recently in an edition of WrestlingInc podcast, former WWE Producer, Court Bauer, discussed his thoughts on Goldberg vs. Brock Lesnar. The two former World Champions are scheduled to face each other in the main-event of the 30th annual WWE Survivor Series.
Bauer criticised the Lesnar segment during the past episode of RAW from Minneapolis, Minnesota. Brock was the hometown hero and received major pops from the audience, who unexpectedly turned anti-Goldberg. Bauer said:
“You're in Brock's hometown, Minneapolis, Minnesota, where he lives now, essentially, where he made his name at the University of Minnesota. And you have Paul Heyman wearing a purple tie representing the [NFL's Minnesota] Vikings, Brock Lesnar wearing the 'Suplex City' shirt. They didn't heel in that crowd at all.”
The owner of MLW Network, Bauer, also feels that those mistakes of the WWE provided the crowd, the opportunity to ‘hijack’ the entire segment. With Survivor Series just weeks away, he stated that he would have avoided the situation by not including Brock in the show at all:
“Why would you book him in Minnesota? Why? I would have just done nothing.”
Bauer also highlighted the return of Batista in 2014, when the former World Champion returned as a babyface but had to be portrayed in a negative light because of the fan reactions. He doesn’t want the same outcome with the return of Goldberg.
Bauer mentioned that he would have built-up the feud in a classic ‘UFC style’, where the competitors won’t be able to fight each other, before the official match. He recalled the rivalry of Kurt Angle and Samoa Joe from TNA, where the build-up was similar to what Bauer wants in the case of Lesnar and Goldberg:
“Put them in that environment through that prism of looking at them as legit, bad ass fighters. Let's see that big prize fight."
Here is the Brock Lesnar promo that went awry.
This week on RAW, Goldberg was confronted by Rusev and the Advocate of the Beast, Paul Heyman. As a result, Heyman had to absorb a devastating Spear, while Rusev was laid out with a Jackhammer!
