What’s the story?

Goldust is one of the true veterans of WWE, and today he hit an incredibly impressive milestone - not one in relation to his career, though. Dustin Rhodes took to social media to confirm today marks ten years of sobriety for him!

In case you didn’t know…

Goldust's wrestling career spans 30 years, a lot of which has been spent in WWE - but Rhodes also spent time in WCW and TNA. In WWE, though, the 49-year-old is a three-time Intercontinental Champion and nine-time Tag Team Champion, with three Tag Team title reigns, too.

If you don't know of Dustin Rhodes outside of television, though, you may be surprised to learn that he's an ambassador for overcoming addiction. The Texan-born Superstar has had his struggles with his vices in the past and overcomes them - and he isn't shy about it. Rhodes often takes to social media to post motivational messages to help those also struggling.

The heart of the matter

Well, today, Goldust has confirmed that he has hit a milestone in that of being ten years sober. The former Intercontinental Champion posted the message below.

Posing with his sobriety coin, Rhodes said sobriety is the most important thing in his life. The sobriety coin is a token given to members of groups such as Alcoholics Anonymous to represent the amount of time the member has remained sober. Today, Goldust got his X coin, to mark ten years free from his vices.

Rhodes follows in the footsteps of rapper Eminem who recently tweeted out this.

In Rhodes' message, he mentions being "proud" of himself for going from "death's door" to where he is now - and he's not the only one. Several WWE Superstars have taken to Twitter to congratulate the veteran, too.

Reactions

Cody Rhodes, Dustin's brother, showed a subtle message of support...

..while two fellow WWE veterans had messages of congratulations for their fellow Superstar.

The 205 Live roster also praised the Raw man, with GM Drake Maverick and a man Goldust knows very well in Cedric Alexander showing support.

Author’s take

Well, this is great. No matter what your beliefs are, it's always good to see someone overcome something that hinders them in any way. For Goldust to be so open about how much alcohol and drugs affected his life, and to be so supportive of others who may be struggling, it's great to see Goldust reach this milestone.

A huge congratulations to Goldust and we wish him all the best.
