What's the story?

WWE Superstar Goldust's former Mixed Match Challenge, Alicia Fox, was injured during the rehearsals for the Women's Royal Rumble Match, sidelining her for that, and also removing her from the Mixed Match Challenge tournament. As a result, Goldust had to choose a new partner, which he did after SmackDown LIVE.

In case you didn't know...

The Mixed Match Challenge is a Facebook Watch Exclusive mixed tag-team tournament that airs live after SmackDown Live has finished. So far we've seen Sasha Banks and Finn Balor defeat Natalya and Shinsuke Nakamura, Asuka and The Miz beat Carmella and Big E and most recently Braun Strowman and Alexa Bliss triumph over Sami Zayn and Becky Lynch.

The heart of the matter

Goldust revealed his new partner on the most recent Mixed Match classic episode, and it's none other than Mandy Rose, the blonde member of Absolution, who will be joining him to take on the husband and wife team of Naomi and Jimmy Uso.

Goldust took to Twitter to offer his reaction to the new pairing by suggesting a, quite frankly, awesome team name

Mandy Rose also reacted to the news by cementing in the RoseGold team name and sharing a picture of herself and Goldust together, complimenting them as a team.

What's next?

The team of Goldust and Mandy Rose or RoseGold will take on Jimmy Uso and Naomi on next week's episode of the Mixed Match Classic in what is sure to be a massive clash of styles.

We'll have to wait and see if Paige or Sonya Deville also come out to root for Mandy as she attempts to gain her first success and accolade in the WWE since joining as a member of Paige's stable.

Author's take

When it was announced that Goldust would need a new partner I thought to myself that it would probably be Mandy Rose and I'm glad it is. She's right when she says the two look great together as a team, and I'm excited to see what they can do.
