What's the story?

Mick Foley has revealed that he is attending the Raw Reunion episode of WWE Raw on July 22 in the hope of winning the 24/7 Championship.

In case you didn't know…

On the May 20 episode of Raw after Money In The Bank, Mick Foley was given the role of introducing the 24/7 Championship – a modern-day version of the Hardcore Championship – to the WWE audience for the first time.

Although the initial reaction was disappointing, largely due to the generic design of the title, the ongoing rivalry between R-Truth and Drake Maverick has proven to be one of the most entertaining storylines on Raw, SmackDown Live and social media over the last two months.

The title has already been won by nine different Superstars, including nine-time holder R-Truth, while title changes have taken place at an airport, golf course, wedding ceremony and hotel room.

Truth’s interview with IGN on Friday was interrupted by two 24/7 Championship challengers, Maverick and The Hurricane, but he was able to escape with his title.

The heart of the matter

Over 40 legends will appear at Raw Reunion in Tampa, Florida on Monday, including “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair and Mick Foley.

Given that the 24/7 Championship has featured so prominently on WWE programming recently, there has been lots of speculation amongst fans that a legend could briefly win the title during the special episode of Raw.

Foley, it appears, has seen the speculation and he has responded on Twitter by confirming that he will indeed try to win the title that he introduced.

What's next?

Raw Reunion is shaping up to be the most must-see episode of Monday Night Raw in 2019 so far. Expect the show to feature multiple segments involving legends from the past, as well as more build-up to the Universal Championship encounter between Brock Lesnar and Seth Rollins at SummerSlam.
