What’s the story?

On a recent edition of Cerrito Live, James Storm asserted that he’d be open to a return on WWE NXT.

Additionally, Storm addressed the fact of him being the only non-WWE performer to attend Ric Flair’s 30 for 30 party. Besides, Storm spoke about his current fitness status and keeping his next move in the pro-wrestling business a secret.

In case you didn’t know…

James Storm recently parted ways with Impact Wrestling and is now a free agent.

Storm briefly performed for the WWE’s NXT brand back in 2015 but returned to Impact Wrestling until his departure earlier this year. He is best known for his tag team with Bobby Roode while also being part of a faction called Fortune led by AJ Styles.

The heart of the matter

James Storm recalled that Ric Flair sent him a text message and phone calls on the very day of the latter’s ESPN 30 for 30 documentary—an event where Storm got to after a 4-plus hour drive, and none of the performers (men in particular) drank out of respect for Flair. Storm continued that the boys later went to an after-party following the event.

Furthermore, Storm elucidated that at his last TV tapings he was at about 16% body fat, whereas he’s now at 11%. ‘Cowboy’ explained that he’s working really hard at the gym, and getting into the best shape he can in order to be ready for the next big opportunity which comes his way. He stated—

"People always say, 'main roster or bust type of guy,' but if you look at NXT, it's one of the hottest things going right now no matter what people say, and it's one of those things where anybody would be proud to be signed to NXT and have a good run there. I mean, it's plain and simple. They are doing as much as the people on the main roster is on the road and stuff like that right now. So, I mean, I'd definitely go and work with those guys and help them out as best I can."

Storm pointed out that in this day and age of social media where most wrestlers compete for likes and re-posts on social media, he prefers maintaining kayfabe and will keep his return to whatever promotion he signs with next, a secret.

What’s next?

James Storm is presently working on his fitness in the gym and is likely to sign with a notable pro-wrestling organization very soon.

Author’s take

James Storm is one of the most entertaining performers today.

Storm has great in-ring psychology and could be a huge asset to the WWE down in NXT. Whether or not he returns to the WWE’s yellow brand remains to be seen.
