WWE's luck?

What’s the story?

Former Impact Wrestling star James Storm, who officially parted ways with Impact at the beginning of the year, recently spoke to Sports Illustrated about his desire to have an official run with WWE.

In case you didn’t know…

Storm had been with Impact since their first show in 2002. The former world Champion and tag team specialist briefly left the company in 2015 and wrestled some televised matches for WWE on NXT shortly thereafter, but opted to return to Impact and signed a two-year contract with the company in January 2016 due to having a new born baby at home and the schedule being much easier than WWE's.

The heart of the matter

'The Cowboy' had this to say about the WWE:

"My ultimate goal is to go to WWE. The WWE has such a grip on the world, it's pretty amazing, and I believe I still have a lot to give. I'm in the best shape I've ever been. When I left Impact, I told people this isn't my last stop, it's just time for me to get on a new horse."

If James does get to have an official run with WWE, he would like it to be in NXT. James said in a previous interview late last year:

"People always say, 'main roster or bust type of guy,' but if you look at NXT, it's one of the hottest things going right now no matter what people say. And it's one of those things where anybody would be proud to be signed to NXT and have a good run there. I mean, it's plain and simple. They are doing as much as the people on the main roster is on the road and stuff like that right now. So, I mean, I'd definitely go and work with those guys and help them out as best I can."

What's next?

For now, James has several independent shows already planned up until at least early May. So, even if he does decide to work out some contract with WWE, it will be post his present commitments.

Author’s take

I would love to see James have an official run with WWE. 'The Cowboy' is still a very talented performer who is in tremendous shape for his age, 40. This is something that James really wants, so I can see him working really hard to obtain it.
