WWE News: Jason Jordan to battle The Miz for the Intercontinental Championship at No Mercy

It pays to be the son of an Olympic gold medalist.

It's been in the making ever since Jason Jordan was introduced as Kurt Angle's son, and now, he's earned a title shot against The Miz at "No Mercy."

No Mercy is taking place this weekend and the card is pretty stacked, but one noticeable absence was that of the Intercontinental Champion. Well, that all changed on tonight's episode of Monday Night Raw as a handful of superstars competed to earn the number one contender spot and it ended up being taken by the General Manager's son.

Early in the night, a Six Pack Challenge was announced as the Raw main event with the winner getting a title shot against The Miz at No Mercy. Originally, Kurt Angle only had Matt Hardy vs. Elias Samson vs. Jeff Hardy vs. Jason Jordan, but the champ didn't find that fair.

He persuaded Angle to add Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel to the mix which made it all that much more fun.

It was a pretty back-and-forth match which almost saw Curtis Axel steal a victory, but Jason Jordan came in with a pop-up neckbreaker to make the pin and earn the shot. Of course, this is exactly what The Miz didn't want and it led to a confrontation after the match.

The Miztourage came to the champion's rescue and destroyed Jason Jordan in a 3-on-1 assault to end Raw.

Some people don't think that Jason Jordan is ready to be elevated to the position of holding a major singles title, but that doesn't seem to matter. If you're a longtime wrestling fan, the one standing tall on the go-home show before a PPV is not usually the one walking out with the gold.
