What's the story?

Vince McMahon is a stickler for putting out the best product for the WWE Universe and has shown that he puts a lot of emphasis on attention to detail.

WWE Hall of Famer Jerry "The King" Lawler has now revealed why Vince McMahon called him on his phone during this year's Royal Rumble pre-show.

In case you didn't know...

Jerry "The King" Lawler returned to the WWE at the 2019 Royal Rumble, appearing at the pre-show as well as commentating on the men's Royal Rumble match, which was won by Seth Rollins.

He was a part of the pre-show with Booker T, Jonathan Coachman, David Otunga, Beth Phoenix, and Shawn Michaels.

The heart of the matter

In his Dinner with the King podcast, Lawler revealed that he was shocked to see Vince McMahon calling him on his phone during a break, and instructing him to do one specific thing.

"I had it on silent but my phone lights up, and we're in a little commercial thing where they're showing some b-roll or whatever, so I look at my phone and I was taken aback. I'm thinking, does that really say what I think it says? And it says, 'Vince McMahon'.

"I'm like, this can't be right. I'm on the Pre-Show, Vince McMahon calling me, right? I mean, this is gotta be some kind of rib or something. So I press, I go, 'Hello?' And all of a sudden Vince goes, 'King?' I said, 'Yeah?' He said, 'Take your crown and move it from your right side over to your left side.' And I'm in shock, and I pick my crown up and I move it over to the left side, and I say, 'Like that?' He said, 'Perfect, thank you'," said the WWE Hall of Famer.
