What's the story?

Details have emerged that current SmackDown Live tag team Champion, Jey Uso has been arrested over the weekend in Texas for driving whilst under the influence. He was arrested on Sunday and released the same day on a $500 recognisance bond.

In case you didn't know...

The Usos had a great 2017 possibly cementing themselves as one of the best tag-teams in wrestling with an excellent prolonged feud against The New Day, and a 99+ day tag-team title run which is getting larger and larger by the day.

The heart of the matter

Pro Wrestling Sheet acted upon a report on Twitter from Slice Wrestling and reached out to the arresting agency for more details on Jey Uso's arrest, here's what they got back from them below. You can also find more details about the arrest here.

According to a report from the arresting agency, Jey was pulled over around 1am for a traffic violation and the officer observed signs of intoxication. A field sobriety test was then administered on the wrestler and it was determined that he was showing signs of being under the influence.

The WWE have also issued a statement to F4WOnline on the matter, which is below

"Joshua Fatu is responsible for his own personal actions. We are investigating the matter and awaiting information from local law enforcement officials."

What's next?

The WWE has a zero tolerance policy for things like this so if Jey Uso is charged and found guilty of driving whilst under the influence it could spell the end of a great run for The Usos on SmackDown Live and would possibly lead to Jey's firing from the company.

Author's take

It's such a shame because The Usos were going from strength to strength and something like this threatens to undo all the hard work they've put in. However, there's no excuse for driving a vehicle when intoxicated, no matter who you are. So, unfortunately if Jey is found guilty he'll have to suffer the consequences.
