From the WWE Rumor Mill: John Cena might not appear at an upcoming Pay-Per-View

John Cena
John Cena has not been advertised for the October PPV

What's the story?

If recent listings are anything to go by, John Cena is not scheduled to work the upcoming Raw pay-per-view, WWE: Tables, Ladders and Chairs which is to take place on the 22nd of October.

In case you didn't know...

John Cena is currently in a feud with Roman Reigns and the two are set to face each other at No Mercy on Sunday. The past few weeks saw an intense shoot style promo competition between them, as they held nothing back to take each other on verbally.

The two will face each other in singles competition for the first time at No Mercy and Reigns is expected to go over in that match.

The heart of the matter

After the match against Reigns at No Mercy, John Cena is not scheduled to work in the upcoming Raw Pay-Per-View at TLC.

When Cena came to Raw from Smackdown after his match against Baron Corbin at Summerslam, he specified that he had one reason, and that was to face Roman Reigns. It has been speculated that after the match between them at No Mercy, he may take time off to fulfil his filming obligations as well as complete other non-WWE duties.

The fact that he is advertised for Survivor Series, the last of the big four pay-per-views of the year, caused more speculation about his return to Smackdown. He was expected to start a feud with the WWE Champion, Jinder Mahal before he moved to Raw.

Their is also a possibility that the rumours of the Undertaker's return are true and he could be Cena's opponent at Survivor Series.

What's next?

Cena is scheduled to face Roman Reigns on Sunday at No Mercy, where he is expected to put the Big Dog over. It is likely that after this match, he will take some time off from WWE to fulfil his other commitments.

Author's take

John Cena has become an actual part-time wrestler as he has both WWE and Non-WWE commitments to fulfil now.

WWE is slowly trying to pass on his status as the face of the company to Roman Reigns and while they have not been successful thus far, the match at No Mercy will most probably be another attempt to put over Reigns for the casual fans.

Cena's availability will reduce as time progresses, returning only for the big four pay-per-views.
