What's the story?

John Cena and Nikki Bella were the picture-perfect couple. They were successful, happy, and about to get married.

Unfortunately, their relationship came to a bitter end in April. John Cena spoke to Entertainment Tonight and we thank SEScoops for the transcript.

In case you didn't know...

John Cena has been the face of WWE for a really long time. In 2012, he began dating fellow superstar Nikki Bella. At WrestleMania 33, he teamed up with Bella to take on The Miz and Maryse in a Mixed Tag Match and won the contest too. Following the match, he got down on his knee and asked Bella to marry him.

This move made headlines around the world and received much attention from the mainstream media. Cena spoke out about there being problems in his relationship since then, and the two called it quits this past April. We also heard that parts of Total Bellas had to be filmed again because of the Cena-Bella breakup.

The heart of the matter

While the central purpose of the interview was to promote 'Bumblebee', a Transformers spin-off, Cena was also asked about his personal life. Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Cena had this to say:

Oh, it sucks. No, there’s no other way to say that. I love Nicole with all my heart and that’s that.

It is clear that Cena is still distraught over the break-up and may not be in the best place right now because of the same. Time does heal all wounds and we do hope that both parties involved can move on from the unfortunate split.

What's next?

Cena recently defeated Triple H at the Greatest Royal Rumble. Bella was a participant in the Women's Royal Rumble. She performed extremely well in the match and was a part of the Final Four.

Author's take

All good things must come to an end. However, both Cena and Bella are in the prime of their lives and should have other things to keep them occupied for now.

Let's hope both of them come back to the ring for yet another run when the time's opportune.
