Could John Cena win the Rumble and go on to main event 'Mania?

What's the story?

So far we only know a handful of Royal Rumble entrants for WWE's next PPV, with Elias, Randy Orton and Shinsuke Nakamura all announcing they'll be involved in the match. Now another top WWE Superstar has announced they're participating, and all I can say is - 'The Champ is Here.'

In case you didn't know...

The Royal Rumble on January 28th is one of WWE's marquee events with many excited to see who will win the coveted Royal Rumble match and earn themselves a title shot at Wrestlemania. The event is already guaranteed to make history as a women's Royal Rumble Match will be taking place for the first time ever alongside the men's.

The heart of the matter

For a while John Cena has been the odds-on favourite to win the Royal Rumble despite not being announced for the match, however, his chances of winning at the Rumble have increased dramatically following his participation announcement, as it's now actually a possibility after all.

John Cena has been rumoured to have a 'big' match at Wrestlemania against a WWE Legend with names like Goldberg and Undertaker being tentatively suggested by the internet wrestling media. Will his inclusion in the Royal Rumble match help make Cena's 'Mania plans a little clearer?

What's next?

Many people in the WWE Universe believe that this will be the year that John Cena picks up his 17th world title victory and surpasses the great Ric Flair as the Superstar with the most world-title wins in WWE history. Winning the Royal Rumble will certainly get John Cena one step closer to achieving that historic goal. However that all depends on whether or not we might finally get that 'Mania match with Undertaker.

Author's take

With Cena indicating he's moving towards a part-time schedule with the company there is some doubt as to whether or not he'll actually surpass Flair's record, but one thing is for certain, Cena will always be a favourite to win any match he's been announced in.
