WWE News: John Cena couldn't make it to RAW due to China live event

John Cena RAW
John Cena was not present on this week's RAW episode

What's the story?

On the final RAW episode before No Mercy, there was one major star who was not present on the show. John Cena couldn’t be part of a rather tame show due to his commitments in China for a live event, though the 16-time champion tried his best to make it back on time.

In case you didn't know...

Cena is set to face Roman Reigns at No Mercy and "The Big Dog" took a swipe at "The Champ" for not making it to the arena on time. Cena and Reigns have been involved in a war of words since Cena returned to RAW and that will culminate this Sunday at the pay-per-view.

The heart of the matter

It wasn’t for a lack of trying that Cena could not make it to the US for the RAW episode. While speaking to the South China Morning Post, the former champ explained that even though his match at the live event in China was put earlier on the card, he couldn’t reach California on time.

"I will literally spend more time in a fuselage than I will on the ground here, that's how important this trip was to me. I was initially supposed to miss this event, and I bent time to be here. This is taking priority above a lot of things, including me being in the air the entire day on Monday, so you can do the maths to see how important this is."

Cena also added that there is a lot of potential for Chinese superstars to make it into the ranks and also hoped for a WrestleMania from the Far East.

What's next?

The clash at No Mercy will be one of the biggest clashes of the year, even though many had predicted that this battle might take place later on.

Cena and Reigns will look to bring the house down at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles.

Author's take

That is just John Cena in a nutshell for you. "The Champ" is one of the most professional Superstars in the WWE locker and it is no surprise that he was doing his best to make it on time for the RAW show.

The former champ might get an earful when making his way to the ring but one thing is a give, there is no one more committed to the business than Cena.
