WWE News: John Cena honoured for philanthropic efforts towards US Armed Forces

Cena is currently on a hiatus from WWE due to an injury

John Cena may be on a lenghty hiatus after going under the knife for a shoulder injury, but the Superstar has refused to allow his predicament to let his humanitarian efforts take a backseat, and was recently presented with the 2016 Legacy Achievement Award at the annual USO Metro-DC Awards Dinner in Washington, DC, reports wrestlinginc.com.

Triple H, who was at the show with his wife Stephanie and mother-in-law Linda, took to social networking site Twitter to congratulate Cena on his achievement.

The wrestler was presented with the award to honour the commitment he has shown towards the US troops. Cena’s affection and respect for the men and women of the United States is well established, with the wrestler even incorporating some of the mannerisims of the US Armed Forces in his wrestling style.

As a matter of fact, Cena’s trademark salute before matches is not just to acknowledge his adoring fans but also to honour the members of the Armed Forces.

Cena’s charity efforts are also something that is well publicized, with the wrestler’s association with the Make-A-Wish Foundation a well known one. In fact, the 38-year-old created history after he granted more than 300 wishes to the foundation.
