WWE News: John Cena makes first comment after his break-up with Nikki Bella

What's the story?

We learnt late yesterday, that WWE's top couple had broken up. US Weekly broke the story. After 6 years of dating and after 1 year of being engaged, John Cena and Nikki Bella had broken up.

The couple themselves released a joint statement for fans.

While the decision was a difficult one, we continue to have a great deal of love and respect for one another. We ask that you respect our privacy during this time in our lives.

Nikki Bella also commented on her Instagram page.

In case you didn't know...

John Cena proposed to Nikki Bella at WrestleMania 33, a little more than a year ago, in the middle of the ring after a match against Miz and Maryse.

Cena and Nikki Bella began dating in 2012. Since last year, their life together has been documented on the E! show Total Bellas.

John Cena made his first comment since announcing his split with Nikki Bella earlier today.

What's next?

John Cena lost to the Undertaker in less than 3 minutes at WrestleMania 34. It's unclear when John Cena will make his next WWE appearance and there is some chance he will be present tonight during the Superstar Shake-Up.

Nikki Bella didn't take part in the WrestleMania Women's Battle Royale but was present at ringside and backstage.

Both John Cena and Nikki Bella are working on non-WWE related projects right now.
