WWE News: Johnny Gargano reacts to Daniel Bryan saying he wants him on SmackDown Live

Gargano
Will we see Gargano make the move to the main roster?

What's the story?

Prior to Johnny Gargano's huge unsanctioned match at NXT TakeOver against longstanding rival Tomasso Ciampa with his NXT career on the line, SmackDown General Manager Daniel Bryan commented that he wanted Gargano to lose - but only so that he could bring him up to the main roster.

Well, Gargano was victorious and saved his NXT career, but the man himself has responded to Bryan's comments about a potential move to the blue brand.

In case you didn't know...

The rivalry between Johnny Gargano and Tomasso Ciampa eventually got its huge pay-off last night in the co-main event of NXT TakeOver.

One of WWE's longest running rivalries finally saw Gargano get his hands on his former best friend after months of build saw Ciampa turn on his friend and "DIY" tag team partner after failing to win the NXT Tag Team Championships.

An injury sidelined Ciampa and delayed the inevitable rematch between the pair from the Cruiserweight Classic - but in what promised to be a very different match.

Well, that match happened last night and Gargano got some retribution for Ciampa's attacks on him after Johnny Wrestling's five-star match with Andrade "Cien" Almas at the last TakeOver - and for costing him his job.

The heart of the matter

Well, while Bryan may have been in a very small minority of people who wanted Gargano to lose, his heart was in the right place and many would agree with his reasoning.

Many people would love to see Gargano on the main roster, and specifically SmackDown, but Gargano won and subsequently secured his spot back in NXT.

While Gargano won the match, he took to Twitter to respond to the GM today, and wish him luck in his WrestleMania return tonight!

What's next?

It looks like we won't see Gargano on WWE's blue brand any time soon, although you never know when the Superstar Shake-Up eventually happens.

Logically, though, you'd have to imagine that either the NXT Championship or the North American Championship may be in Gargano's sights now.

Author's take

Well, I'd have loved to have seen Gargano on the main roster. I specifically wanted him to lose last night because Ciampa could be turned into even more of a monster heel.

He could have then attacked Gargano after he got going on the main roster to give the pay-off in a match at next year's WrestleMania.

If Gargano is staying in NXT, it now makes it difficult to keep him and Ciampa separate due to how personal this rivalry got.

But I think with Aleister Black taking the NXT Championship, the more likely step now is to have Gargano go after the Adam Cole's North American Championship and feud with the Undisputed ERA.
