WWE News: Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn invade WWE Live Event

Owens and Zayn were fired by Daniel Bryan this past week on SmackDown Live

What's the story?

WWE was in Trenton, NJ for a SmackDown Live house show, when two unexpected visitors showed up at the event. As revealed in a tweet by WWE, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn stormed the ring to send out a message to the SmackDown Live GM Daniel Bryan.

In case you didn’t know…

The saga between Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan has been on-going for a good few months now, and things came to a head when Owens inadvertently kicked Shane at the Fastlane PPV, with Shane in turn costing KO and Zayn the WWE Championship match up.

On the next SmackDown Live, the duo unleashed a brutal beatdown on the SmackDown Live Commissioner. The following week, Daniel Bryan informed them that due to their actions of the previous week, they were fired. Following the announcement, Owens and Zayn then brutally assaulted Bryan in the ring. This was Daniel Bryan's first time returning to in-ring action after being medically cleared.

WWE have been trying hard to sell the angle by removing their names from the roster on their official website and with Owens changing his Twitter name to Kevin Steen, his real name.

The heart of the matter

At the SmackDown house show in Trenton, NJ, the duo returned to WWE TV once again, after they invaded the ring to cut a promo.

Sami Zayn took to the microphone to rant about how they had been unjustly fired. He went on to say that they used to love and admire Daniel Bryan for a long time, but now Bryan had turned into nothing more than a 'corporate sellout'.

Owens then grabbed the microphone to give the fans a piece of his mind too but was interrupted by the start of Shinsuke Nakamura's entrance theme.

What's next?

It looks like in his first match after being cleared for in-ring action, Bryan will team up with Shane O'Mac to take on the duo of Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn at WrestleMania 34.

Author's take

I personally like how hard WWE is trying to sell the angle, deleting the duo's profiles from WWE.com and Owens changing his Twitter handle. And now, this invasion of sorts has added more heat to the feud.

Needless to say, if not for anything else, this matchup will be one of the most anticipated ones at WM just to see Daniel Bryan back in action once again after two long years!
