WWE News: Kurt Angle says that he will wrestle for WWE in the future

Kurt Angle will wrestle inside the WWE ring very soon.

What’s the story?

In a recent interview with Wrestlezone Radio, Kurt Angle revealed that he would be wrestling for the WWE in the near future.

In case you didn’t know...

Kurt Angle is widely regarded as one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time, and he also won an Olympic gold medal as an amateur in 1996. He performed for the WWE from 1998-2006 and with Impact Wrestling from 2006-16; he also made a few appearances for New Japan Pro Wrestling.

The heart of the matter

Angle is the on-screen General Manager of Monday Night Raw, but WWE hasn’t revealed any plans involving him as an in-ring performer…for now. Nevertheless, the 48-year old legend opined that he would, indeed, wrestle for the promotion very soon. Here are a few excerpts from his statements;

“They haven’t talked to me about it. I’m sure they won’t until the last second (laughs). That’s ok with me. I think what they are doing right now is, this is just my opinion, they are monitoring to see how I’m doing…They want to see “Is this kid really in recovery? Does he really have his life together? Is he coming here clean? Is he doing ok? Is his health ok?’

They see me working out at the gym. They see me every Raw doing what I have to do. They’re saying, “Prove to us that you are ok and we can give you what you want.” I’m cool with that.”

Furthermore, he stated that WWE would drug test him, as rigorously as they would anyone else on the roster, before making a decision about his return to the ring. Angle elucidated on his potential return to action stating:

“I will be wrestling down the road at some point. It might not be this year, it might be next year, I don’t know. They haven’t said a word, but my guess is I will wrestle again in WWE. I just don’t know when.”

What’s next?

Angle presently serves as the on-screen GM of Raw and was recently featured in a prominent segment alongside Bray Wyatt- albeit in a promo and not a wrestling match.

Several pro-wrestling industry insiders are of the opinion that the ‘Wrestling Machine’ will return to the ring for a feud with Triple H that is likely to lead up to a match between the two at WrestleMania 34.

Author’s take

Kurt Angle has been involved in a few controversies and DUI incidents in the past, which have been indirectly referred to from time-to-time.

Regardless, the man is a legend and let’s face it none of us is perfect. I hope to see Kurt wrestle a few more times in his career, and seeing him go toe-to-toe with The Game will make it even better.
