5 Men who could face Kurt Angle in his final match

If Kurt Angle were to have one more WWE match, who would his ideal opponent be?

As we write this, Kurt Angle is slated to go into the WWE Hall of Fame at the age of 48. One of the youngest inductees into the Hall of Fame, Angle returns home after more than a decade. Unfortunately, it is unclear if he will be associated with the company as an in-ring performer or a possible general manager to replace Mick Foley.

With WWE’s strict guidelines with regard to in-ring performers, Angle’s body may not pass the muster when it comes to getting in the ring for a complete run. However, we’re certain that Angle can definitely wrestle one more match as a special attraction for the world's largest sports entertainment promotion.

If WWE had to judiciously pick an opponent for him, who would they shortlist? We look at 5 likely possibilities for the same.

#5 Brock Lesnar

Will the Beast Incarnate and the Olympic Gold Medalist renew their legendary rivalry?

As it stands now, we foresee Brock Lesnar defeating Goldberg at Wrestlemania and becoming the new Universal Champion. Dave Meltzer has speculated that Lesnar will eventually drop the title to Roman Reigns at the next Wrestlemania.

Until then, however, Lesnar needs a ‘believable’ challenger along the way. How about one of Lesnar’s classic opponents and a man with whom he has possibly the best chemistry ever- Kurt Angle?

An Angle-Lesnar feud is not just big money, it also makes sense. Fans will be far more invested in the feud as Angle can work well in the ring, and hence, the matches need not just be squash contests. A contest of this nature would also bring old fans back to watch the product one more time.

#4 Seth Rollins

Seth Rollins can bring his A-Game to any big match

While Brock Lesnar and Kurt Angle have faced each other several times in the past, this is a dream match that fans never expected to see. Seth Rollins is a grade A performer and can work great matches with anyone in the world. Heck, until the unfortunate end, Rollins was having a great match with Sting.

Imagine the kind of match he can have with Kurt Angle. Angle has expressed his desire to work with Rollins in the past and called him one of the best in the world.

Furthermore, tt seems certain that Rollins is out of the title picture for the foreseeable future at least. What better than a program with Kurt Angle to keep him occupied? Yes, neither man has to really turn heel to carry the program. The sheer magnitude of such a match will definitely be newsworthy enough.

#3 Samoa Joe

Will TNA's biggest feud come to WWE?

When Kurt Angle quit WWE in 2006, he moved to TNA and had one of the biggest matches in the company’s history, taking on the undefeated Samoa Joe. Over a decade later, both men are associated with the WWE.

Both men are two of the best active wrestlers in the world right now. Can they recreate their magic for the WWE Universe? This is a match that fans would kill to see recreated once more.

The premise would be very simple. If Angle were brought in as the Raw General Manager, Stephanie McMahon and Triple H would want Kurt to be a yes man for the Authority. Only, he wouldn't be one. As a consequence, Triple H’s destroyer would be sent to bring Angle back on track. What happens after that, you ask? All hell breaks loose, then!

#2 John Cena

Can the inductor take on the inductee?

John Cena made his televised debut against Kurt Angle and years later, he will be the one inducting Angle into the WWE Hall of Fame on Wrestlemania weekend. Angle recently mentioned that he thought that Cena was the greatest WWE wrestler of all time.

With the amount of mutual respect that the two men share and the amazing contests they’ve had in the past, we're certain they could do it again. Only this time, the circumstances are very different from what they once were.

If we had to book the match, we’d make it a career vs. career contest. It is no secret that Cena has his eyes on Hollywood and is winding down his professional wrestling schedule right now. There would be an air of believability if this match truly had to transpire.

The uncertainty of the outcome and the amazing psychology from both men would certainly make this match a 5-star affair.

#1 AJ Styles

Truth be told, this is the match everybody wants to see!

AJ Styles may be the best wrestler in the world, across all promotions, right now. Kurt Angle echoes this sentiment to the fullest. We know Styles has the greatest of respect for Angle too. Both men have expressed the desire to face one another in the WWE.

As we have seen during all their matches at TNA, both men are magicians between the ropes. If they were to have a big ticket match, it would be nothing short of ‘phenomenal’.

Considering how many fans have asked for this match, it could transpire!
