WWE News: Kurt Angle pays a heart-touching tribute to Eddie Guerrero 

What’s the story?

WWE Hall of Famer and the current General Manager of Monday Night Raw, Kurt Angle recently took to social media in order to pay tribute to former WWE Champion and wrestling legend, the late great Eddie Guerrero.

In case you didn’t know…

Heading into WrestleMania XX in 2004, Kurt Angle and Eddie Guerrero were part of the main feud for the Smackdown brand, as they engaged in an intense rivalry over the WWE Championship. At the beginning of the year 2004, Angle and Guerrero formed a strong alliance amongst each other as Eddie feuded with nephew Chavo Guerrero.

However, on an episode of SmackDown, Kurt Angle was a special guest referee in a match between Eddie and Chavo, and as the former was about to close in on the victory over his cousin, Angle would go on to stop the three count and eventually turned his back on Eddie Guerrero, bringing an end to their alliance.

The heart of the matter

In a recent Instagram post, Raw GM Kurt Angle stated that 14 years ago at WrestleMania XX, the Olympic Gold Medalist had the privilege of sharing the ring with possibly the greatest performer of all time, in Eddie Guerrero.

Additionally, Angle wrote and further praised Eddie Guerrero by stating that, the former WWE Intercontinental Champion always had something up his sleeve and he certainly did not disappoint in his and Kurt’s WrestleMania XX showdown. Lastly, Angle would end his statement by thanking the late great Eddie Guerrero.

What’s next?

Kurt Angle’s next in-ring match will also be at WrestleMania, this time at WrestleMania 34, when he teams up with former UFC Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey in her debut WWE match against Triple H and Stephanie McMahon in a mixed tag team match.

Eddie Guerrero was by far one of the greatest wrestlers of all time, if not the greatest. The former WWE Champion will forever live in our hearts and we will always cherish his contributions to the pro wrestling world.
