What's the story?

Matt Hardy has been out of action for several months in order to deal with several nagging injuries.

Ringsidenews.com covered his speaking with Akhilesh Gannavarapu, where Hardy provided an update regarding his recovery during his time off from WWE.

In case you missed it...

Matt Hardy had been tagging with Bray Wyatt as the Deleters of Worlds. They had captured the Raw Tag Team titles but lost them to the B Team at Extreme Rules in July. After failing to recapture them, both Wyatt and Hardy have been absent from Raw since the summer.

Hardy is taking time off to deal with several nagging injuries while Wyatt has been patiently waiting on the sidelines. Hardy had teased retirement during his hiatus but recently revealed he still has plans of returning to WWE.

The heart of the matter

Ringsidenews.com mentioned that while there wasn't a timetable for his return, he was optimistic when speaking with Gannavarapu:

“There is not a set timeline,” Hardy said to Akhilesh Gannavarapu, “Whenever I was ‘going home’ there were some issues, some nagging injuries I was dealing with. I had to go home and do some rehabilitation.”

The update he did provide, however, sounded more encouraging then fans had previously believed:

“As far as a timetable of when I’m going to return, I don’t have an exact timetable but I would say sooner than later.”

Ringsidenews.com also mentioned that Hardy had been helping out backstage with the creative process during his hiatus.

What's next?

While Hardy has been out, he's done plenty to represent WWE. He's traveled to India to help promote WWE and he's spoken with several news outlets.

Depending on the severity of his injuries, he could either return at the Royal Rumble if they're not too serious or for a Wrestlemania program. If he still has some serious rehabbing to do, he might return before the build to Summerslam next summer.

Whenever he does return, the fans will likely welcome him back with open arms.
