What's the story?

Last night's WWE WrestleMania pre-show kicked off with the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal, which was won by Matt Hardy with some help from none other than former adversary turned aide Bray Wyatt.

After the match, in typical 'Woken' style, Matt Hardy could be seen talking to his Andre the Giant trophy and thanking the statue for guiding him to victory.

In case you didn’t know…

Matt Hardy and Bray Wyatt had been feuding a good few months with each other and the feud seemingly culminated on Raw a few weeks ago when Hardy defeated Wyatt in the Ultimate Deletion match and threw him into the Lake of Reincarnation.

Wyatt had been off TV ever since, though at a live event, he could be seen forming an alliance of sorts with the 'Woken One'. This alliance was solidified last night, when the Eater of Worlds helped hardy win the ATG Memorial Battle Royal.

The heart of the matter

In a bizarre, but equally hilarious, video uploaded by WWE.com, 'Woken' Matt can be seen conversing with the Andre the Giant trophy, thanking Andre for the advise which helped him win the Battle Royal match.

He went on to add that Andre was the wisest soul he had ever met, referring to The Giant as the 'Humongous Wonder Number 8'.

Matt then went on to explain that 'The Eater of Worlds' had turned martyr on the night of WrestleMania as Hardy, with the help of Andre, was able to 'delete the darkness' within Bray Wyatt.

The video ended with Hardy exclaiming his famous line, albeit with a slight modification in the name, "Broken Wyatt, I knew you'd come!", followed soon after by Bray Wyatt appearing on the screen.

What's next?

The rumours have been confirmed and it looks like Matt Hardy and Bray Wyatt will be forming an alliance going ahead. It is still not clear what WWE plans to do with Jeff Hardy. A singles run might be on the cards.

Author's take

Bray Wyatt was in dire need of some change in gimmick and his alliance with Matt Hardy comes as a breath of fresh air.
