WWE News: Mick Foley comments on Daniel Bryan's in-ring return

Mick Foley and Daniel Bryan
Mick Foley had a lot to share about Daniel Bryan

What's the story?

Former WWE Superstar Mick Foley recently opened up about Daniel Bryan and the latter's chances of returning to the ring.

During an interview on CBS Sports' In the Corner Podcast, "The Deranged One" was asked about Bryan's return to the squared circle. In response, Foley revealed that he had warned Bryan early in his career but the latter fell victim to some unfortunate injuries.

In case you didn't know...

Bryan was destined to become WWE's next big thing from the word go.

The man who began the 'Yes' movement was incredibly popular among the fans.

While he was busy devoting his heart and soul to his in-ring performances, hectic schedules and serious injuries began to take a toll on him.

The entire WWE Universe was rooting for Bryan as their favourite superstar. Unfortunately, he was forced to retire from wrestling in 2016 due to multiple episodes of brain concussions, seizures and other serious injuries.

In 2016, he returned as the General Manager of SmackDown Live and since then rumours of his in-ring return have been doing the rounds on the internet, time and again.

The heart of the matter

Foley expressed his disappointment about Bryan's forced retirement and revealed that he was worried about the possible health repercussions long ago.

He also spoke to Bryan and explained to him the consequences of putting one's body through so much and not taking a break to recover. Unfortunately, things went downhill for Bryan:

I told him years ago that once he was as thoroughly beloved as he was, he didn't have to do as much on a nightly basis, that he could stay away from some of the things that were most likely going to lead to injuries.

Foley also stated that it is important for Bryan to take his family into consideration before making a choice.

Having said that, he, like many others, is also hoping for the doctors to clear Bryan for his in-ring return.

Foley thinks that this step will be worth it only if Bryan is booked strongly, something he rightfully deserves.

There is no doubt in my mind that Daniel, if given the chance, could have some great matches. I just hope he makes sparing appearances.

What's next?

It remains unconfirmed whether Bryan will return to the ring anytime soon.

Many speculated that the Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn/SmackDown Live Authority figures storyline will lead to a feud between Shane McMahon and Bryan.

On the other hand, a popular belief suggests that Bryan will return at Royal Rumble and will win the first big PPV of 2018.

However, these speculations never seem to turn into reality.

Author's take

As much as I wish that one of these rumours comes true and Bryan makes a strong return to the WWE ring, it is impossible to ignore the medical dangers that he might subject himself to.

If cleared to wrestle again, Bryan's return will be one of the happiest moments for his fans across the WWE Universe. Here's hoping for the best.
