WWE News:  Miz reacts to Ric Flair calling him the best heel today

Ric
Ric Flair would become The Miz's mentor in 2013...

What's the story?

Wrestling Inc. is reporting on a recent interview that current WWE Intercontinental Champion The Miz had with WTMJ-TV of Milwaukee, Wisconsin (the location of Monday Night Raw this week). Within the interview, they discuss Miz's reaction to Ric Flair calling The Miz the best heel in the business today.

In case you didn't know...

When Miz defeated Roman Reigns for the WWE Intercontinental Championship at Raw 25, it was his eighth reign with the title, only trailing Chris Jericho's nine reigns for the most with the title. The closest current WWE Superstar below Jericho and Miz would be Dolph Ziggler with five reigns.

The heart of the matter...

When asked about Flair's comments about Miz being the best heel in pro wrestling today, Miz seemed taken aback. Check out his immediate reaction to that question below:

"Ha! Is that what he said? Coming from him that's an honor," Miz said. "Ric Flair - in my opinion - is the greatest of all-time. I mean he is absolutely incredible, I mean, he gave me his figure-four, how can I say a bad thing about him? You know what I mean? He's just an incredible human being and incredible in-ring performer. And still, his legend lives on, no matter if he's in the ring or outside the ring people still do 'The Strut,' give the 'Woo!' It's amazing."

Flair did pass the Figure Four Leglock onto The Miz in 2013 as he was feuding with Cesaro over the WWE United States Championship. For a short time, Flair would be Miz's mentor during one of his rare babyface runs. It was hard to buy Miz as a face, so the WWE would pair him with Flair to help earn the crowd's cheers.

Though the face turn would last well into 2014, Miz would return as a heel after filming The Marine 4: Moving Target. He would adopt Damien Sandow as his stunt double and shortly after winning the WWE Intercontinental Championship for the third time in his career.

What's next?

It is unknown who The Miz will take on for the WWE Intercontinental Championship, but it appears that Seth Rollins and Finn Balor will be involved. There have also been rumors that Elias and Braun Strowman could be added as well.

Author's take...

If there is anyone that knows the good characteristics of a heel, it's the "dirtiest player in the game" Ric Flair. It was great to hear Miz's reaction because you knew it was the first time heard of those kind words.

Miz has been on a renaissance ever since the night after WrestleMania 32 when his wife Maryse joined him on-screen for the first time when he defeated Zack Ryder for the WWE Intercontinental Championship on Raw that night.
