What's the story?

It was revealed over the weekend that Mustafa Ali was working injured and would more than likely be replaced in the WWE Championship Elimination Chamber match. Tonight, we found out who would be taking his spot.

In case you didn't know...

On the SmackDown Live after the Royal Rumble, it was revealed that Daniel Bryan would defend his WWE Championship in an Elimination Chamber match. Bryan would have to contend with Randy Orton, Samoa Joe, Jeff Hardy, AJ Styles, and new SmackDown star Mustafa Ali.

The Heart of SmackDown Live has looked impressive since leaving 205 Live, picking up wins against some of the best stars on the roster, including Daniel Bryan. He's also been involved with some wars against two deadly competitors in Randy Orton and Samoa Joe.

Through it all, though, Ali has persevered, but he'll have to sit out his first championship opportunity thanks to mounting injuries. And tonight, the WWE revealed who would replace him in the chamber match.

The heart of the matter

At the beginning of SmackDown Live, it was announced that the six men competing in the Chamber match this Sunday would compete in a Gauntlet Match in hopes of being the last man to enter the horrifying structure.

While Daniel Bryan was in the middle of the ring berating the crowd for booing him, he was interrupted by the New Day, and after a few seconds of teasing, it was revealed that Kofi Kingston would be joining the Chamber match, representing the New Day.

What's next?

This Sunday, February 17th, Daniel Bryan will defend his WWE Championship against five of SmackDown Live's top stars. Will he be driven off his road to WrestleMania by one of these veterans in the Elimination Chamber, or will the Planet's Champion continue to prove that no one can stop him in his mission to change the world?
